The Echo Base Fly Rod is low on whistles and bells but high on a serviceable and inexpensive fly rod. I got the 9 ft. 5 wt. rod for larger water that I will occasionally fish. I took the rod to a park and tried some practice casts out to 45 ft. and when I felt the rod load up and go 5 feet straight past my 45 ft. mark after a few casts I figured the rod is fine for my needs.
